The Hume-Fogg school year opened with seniors in crowns, a teachers’ brunch with the principals among the chefs, and a building freshly cleaned by student volunteers. Thank you HFA volunteers — we appreciate you making all this happen!
For the teachers

Teachers were welcomed back with breakfast on their first day, then a crêpe-and-pancake brunch with a trivia twist. The brunch chefs included Dr. Cáceres, Mr. Stanley and Dr. Farmer. On the night of Open House, the Association treated teachers to dinner.
Thank you to the Teacher Appreciation Committee, led by chair Erin Alff, for making teachers, staff and administration feel so appreciated as the year began.
Before the first bell
Before school started, the principals and about 30 student volunteers came in to dust, clean up and wash windows so the building would be ready for the first day. Association volunteers stuffed the first-day folders, joined by student athletes from the volleyball, girls’ basketball and girls’ track teams.
Alumni on stage, and a first look at the fall musical
Alumni came back to the Castle to perform at the showcase on Friday, August 14, which opened Fine Arts Chair Daron Bruce’s 29th year of teaching. The audience also got a sneak peek at this fall’s musical, Legally Blonde.
Thursday–Saturday, November 5–7
